Providing you with healthy options is something your dining team proudly does every day. With CSNM (Canadian Society of Nutrition Management) certified General Manager and Red Seal certified chefs, we help you select delicious, nutritious and satisfying meals, snacks and desserts by highlighting well-balanced menu choices and providing nutritional information and tips to help you make choices that fit your needs. Here at St. George's School, we use the Guideline for Food & Beverage Sales in BC School as our tool to create our 5 week cycle menus.

Food Allergies

We take pride in serving you wholesome fresh ingredients, preparing recipes accurately and consistently. From our general manager to our chefs, to our front line servers, we work carefully to address food allergies, celiac diets, or other special dietary needs.

To register your special diet or allergy, please fill out the enrollment form for your respective school (Junior School or Senior School) : https://www.stgeorges.bc.ca/services/food-services

If you have a food allergy/special diet concern, please call or send us a note using the feedback form.  NOTE:  We are a "nut aware" school but not a "nut free" school. This means that we do not purchase anything with physical nuts for the meal programs however, there may be products that come from a company that has exposure to nuts in their facilities.  To keep all of our boys and community safe, please would prefer that you contact us directly for a one on one consultation as to handle your dietary concerns.

Gluten-Free, Vegetarian, & Vegan Options

The food program is capable of accommodating any dietary concerns at no extra cost, we ask that you communicate with us in advance to ensure we have food for you. Please also make sure that the school nurses are aware of any allergies or restrictions.

Humane Society International - Canada Forward Food Training Program

HSI-LogoH-Sm-Canada_green

HSI has been working with Sodexo in both Canada and the US over the past few years providing training and resources to our chefs in order to make it easier for them to add plant based and plant forward items on their menu. Sodexo Canada and Humane Society International/Canada are excited to announce this new national partnership which will elevate plant-based menu options in Sodexo's accounts across the country. As part of the partnership, HSI/Canada's Forward Food program trains Sodexo chefs on plant-based cooking techniques and work with Sodexo leadership to develop new, custom plant-based recipes.

Our very own Executive Chef Jay Fournier recently completed the Humane Society International - Canada Forward Food program training. As one of Sodexo's selected accounts, St. George's School will transition at least 20% of the current menu items to be plant-based with support from the  HSI/Canada's Forward Food program, enhancing plant-based offerings for your students.

Verde_Green

The objective of this concept is to provide delicious, appealing, healthy and affordable menu options to the many people who want to consume more plant-based foods, especially proteins. It will appeal to a broad audience and meet the unprecedented demand for food choices that align with current consumer values.

Food Innovation - Salad Bars are not enough, menu development for traditional cuisines recreated as

plant-forward meals are becoming popular (ie., bowl recipes - is an example of menu development.

Utilizing global cuisine, regional flavour profiles, and putting as much produce as possible in the bowl).

Leveraging and strengthening local suppliers, and produce vendor partnerships.

Offering young people food that’s new, fresh and local on campus, while we take an innovative approach to re-innovate popular and familiar ingredients and offer it in a new way.

UNIQUE VALUE OF OUR PROPOSED CONCEPT

This concept is distinct for three key reasons.

First, it is 100% plant-based. It will provide delicious, nutritious and sustainable options to individuals who increasingly want to eat plant-based foods for environmental sustainability, personal health and animal welfare.

Second, it is a place where people can learn about the impact of their food choices, experiment with

new kinds of foods, and know that they are making choices that align with their values.

Finally, it is action-oriented. By introducing Verde to your campus, it is a powerful way for individuals to get involved in building a healthier, more humane and more sustainable food system, and to learn more about the positive impacts they can have on the world around them when they enjoy our menu offerings.

MENU

Vegan and vegetarian menu items are available extensively throughout dining menus; accounting for approximately 64% of our total menu offering.
